About Us

Founded in 1961 as DeKalb General Hospital and later known as DeKalb Medical, Emory Decatur Hospital joined the Emory Healthcare System in September 2018. This is a partnership that brings the best of both worlds: the advances of academic medicine in a community hospital setting. This means even stronger, more accessible high-quality healthcare. Emory Decatur Hospital is an integral member of the community, offering a variety of premier clinical services to the residents of DeKalb County and metro Atlanta.

The Department of Pharmacy offers the following clinical services: Oncology, Nutritional Support, Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Neonatology, Pharmacokinetic Monitoring, Antimicrobial Stewardship, and Anticoagulation Management. Pharmacists are members of the Code Response Team, Fall Response Team, and participate in Critical Care, Hospitalist, and NICU patient rounds.

Our pharmacy residency program has been accredited since 1989 and has trained over 45 PGY1 pharmacy residents. Our past residents have gone on to take academic positions in pharmacy and medical schools, research positions, and clinical practice positions in acute care and ambulatory care. Several former residents have completed PGY2 programs in Oncology, Pharmacotherapy, Pharmacy Informatics, Infectious Diseases, Geriatrics, and Critical Care Medicine. Several serve as preceptors for our program.
